I had my 36 week doctor's visit and an ultrasound to check the baby's size and position. We discovered that our little girl is in the butt-down (breech) position. No bueno. Right now, if I go into labor we will have a C-section. There is a procedure called version where they give me a drug that relaxes my uterus and the doctor will try and reposition the baby from outside, sort of like a painful deep tissue massage. We have two out of three positives for this procedure--her size and the amount of fluid around her. The one negative is that the placenta is on the front wall rather than the back wall so it's harder to feel the baby. There are some complications. The worst case scenario is that they would have to preform an emergency C-section right then. Luckily we'll be right there at the hospital just in case. Neither the ultrasound doctor nor my ob/gyn was in today so nothing has been scheduled. I was assured that someone would be calling me today or tomorrow to talk about it. The procedure will take place either this week or next, during my 36th or 37th week.
I told Doug, this is our first opportunity to say, "Why couldn't you be more like your big brother?" But we're not saying it! Cause she's not her brother...
Speaking of Matthew, one of his new favorite things to do is to line things up along the wall. He does this with his blocks or his cars especially. He's getting more vocal: "shoes" and "uh-oh" are the two words I feel comfortable confirming. But he talks a lot now, and if you ask him a question he'll usually respond. Never in a language one can understand...

I hope all goes well. I'll be thinking about you.
I'm really glad that you shared this. Mark and I prayed for you and Kyler last night, and we will continue to pray! Please keep us posted.
both of my girls were breech at 36 weeks and by 38 had turned themselves around. i'll be praying that's what happens for you. if not, you can trust that the Creator of your little girl will bring her into the world as He had planned. there's definitely comfort in that. ;)
So this is how our Matthew was trying to come into the world...yep, butt first...we tease that the first thing he wanted to do...was to "moon" everybody. I ended up with a C-Section...as my water had been broken for almost 2 days (we were trying to have him naturally @ a birthing center). Our birth instructor and associate pastor were really talking up the "external" repositioning, but so much time had gone by since my water had broken and my labor would not start... it was getting late in the evening...the doctor never even went there AND Steve & I were just young and knew nothing...LOL. I hope she can be repositioned and you can avoid the surgery.
Hey - someone at group on Monday said that she turned back after the procedure - are you having a C-section?? I think someone told me you are schedule for one, but I can't remember the day . . .
